Two Lochaber businesses are to expand their hospitality offering after Highland councillors approved their premises licence applications.
The family adventure centre The Ice Factor at Kinlochleven has been granted an increase in its on-sale hours on Sundays from 11am to 1am, previously 12.30pm to 11.45pm.
The centre will also now offer theatre and films within licensed hours, and outdoor drinking facilities at any time.
Licensing officers said told councillors that the alterations proposed by The Ice Factor had particular relevance to climbing and mountaineering visitors by allowing breakfasts and teas and coffees to be offered outwith licensed hours.
Kinlochleven community council lodged an objection to the extended opening hours.
They said their community “battles with social and economic issues, which we believe will not be helped by providing this establishment an increase in its licence to serve alcohol right through their opening hours”.
Lochleven Seafood Café near Onich will expand its seating capacity from 36 to 50, and establish a new bar counter in the café.
It will also increase its on- and off sales periods, from 11pm to 1am for on-sales, and off-sales between 10am and 10pm.
