A major bus operator has announced reduced service will come into force on Monday.
Stagecoach said the temporary changes in Aberdeenshire and Moray following new government advice around social contact and non-essential travel because of coronavirus.
The measures – effectively introducing Sunday service seven days a week – will remain in place “until further notice”.
But Stagecoach said additional services would run in the mornings to allow those continuing to commute to work by bus to work can do so.
Discounted travel schemes remain in place for NHS staff.
Managing director for Stagecoach Bluebird Peter Knight said: “We are working hard to support the national effort to tackle the current challenging situation.
“The safety of our customers and our employees is at the heart of everything we do and the vast majority of the workforce cannot work from home.
“We also know that our bus services play a vital role in keeping the country running and ensuring key sector personnel get to work.”
Mr Kinght added: “Our objective has been to focus resources on where we know they are needed most at this time.
“We are working hard to best maintain essential services, safeguard jobs and ensure the long-term sustainability of a sector which is central to our economy and communities.”
The bus operator has upped cleaning regimes on board its buses – focusing on “main customer touch-points” like hand poles and grab rails.
Stagecoach shops in Aberdeen, Peterhead, Fraserburgh, Elgin and Inverness will also close until further notice.
