A flight from Shetland to Glasgow made an emergency landing at Aberdeen this afternoon after crew noticed a defect in the aircraft’s windscreen.
The Loganair flight LM436 departed Sumburgh shortly after 2.15pm, but a short time later at around 20,000ft above the Moray Firth, a “PAN” signal was issued to declare that the plane was dealing with an urgent problem.
The crew rapidly descended towards Aberdeen Airport, where the flight was met by the emergency services.
All 34 of the passengers on board will be taken to Glasgow on a replacement plane.
A Loganair spokesman said: “Flight LM436 was en-route to Glasgow when it made a precautionary diversion to Aberdeen after the crew detected a minor issue with the aircraft’s windscreen.
“The aircraft landed safely and was met by emergency services as per procedure when a PAN call is declared, although their assistance was not required.
“Loganair will transport the 34 passengers to their original destination using a replacement aircraft and apologises for the inconvenience to their journeys.”
