Police were alerted after a member of the public made the grim find on the riverbank near Torry, opposite Riverside Drive, just before 7am. Officers are now investigating the incident, which was last night being treated as unexplained. The area was cordoned off with a police tent set up while officers carried out inquiries. A police spokesman said there was no element of “criminality”. He added: “We were there early but stood down and we’re making some further inquiries. “There doesn’t appear to be anything criminal. It’s doesn’t look like there’s any unusual circumstances at the moment.” The man is not believed to have been reported as a missing person. An ambulance spokeswoman confirmed they had attended the scene but were not required. Torry and Ferryhill councillor Alan Donnelly said: “It’s obviously very sad, my condolences go out to his family and friends.” The incident comes just two weeks after the body of Stuart Wallace, 46, from Edinburgh was discovered in Aberdeen harbour.
