Residents of a block of flats in Aberdeen say a woodland area was closed off in the early hours of this morning after a body was discovered.
Police confirmed this morning an investigation had been launched after a man was found in Kinter Woods – in what officers are calling “unexplained circumstances – near Balgownie Drive, Bridge of Don.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 9am.
Megan Lawton, 17, lives in a flat on Balgownie Way, which overlooks the woods.
She said: “I saw the police cars were there at about 9am.
“There were three of them there and I think an unmarked one too.”
John McCrum, 19, who was in the same address this morning, added: “They weren’t letting people into the woods, and had blocked off all the entrances.
“They were stopping people from walking on the grass as well.”
Michael Philips also stays in Balgownie Way. He added: “I was out this morning at the shops and drove by the police cars on the way home at about 10.30am.
“I saw about six police cars and police standing at different areas.”
Police say the circumstances surrounding the discovery are unclear at this stage and inquiries are ongoing.
