A major north-east road was closed this afternoon after a lorry caught fire.
Police and fire teams were called to the scene of the blaze on the A90 about a mile south of Stonehaven at 2.30pm.
The fire started in the cab of the lorry which was then detached to prevent the fire from spreading to the vehicle’s load.
Video footage has now emerged of the fire crews tackling the blaze which caused lengthy delays for drivers both heading north and south on the road.
The A90 southbound was closed, with traffic being diverted to the A92 coastal route with witnesses reporting major delays, while the northbound carriageway has been reduced to one lane.
The fire was put out at 3.25pm, just under an hour after emergency teams were first called.
The only remaining lane closed is the left-hand southbound lane, as fire teams ensure the situation is completely under control.
