An Aberdeenshire school has received a glowing report from inspectors.
Education Scotland inspectors visited Auchenblae Primary and Nursery earlier this year, and were impressed by the well-motivated, polite and enthusiastic youngsters they met.
Their report also praises the school’s staff for the “high-quality transition process” which helps children progress from nursery to primary one.
Inspectors also highlighted the “impressive and accessible” learning environment, both in the school and in the wider community.
The report also outlined some areas for continued improvement, with a key focus for the future being to ensure children of all ages are challenged to be high achievers.
The school has also agreed to work with the catchment school, Mearns Academy, and the council to help children build on their learning so they can make the leap from primary to secondary school.
Head teacher John Forrester yesterday welcomed the findings of the inspectors, and said: “Overall we are pleased with the report. I am particularly proud of all our boys and girls who represented the school and community so positively.
“I would like to thank all the staff and partners for their continued hard work and commitment to making Auchenblae
School and Nursery a great learning community.”
Councillor Alison Evison, the local authority’s education committee chairwoman, added: “I’m very pleased that Auchenblae nursery and primary school has received such a glowing report.
“It’s obvious that teachers have a clear vision and are supporting children who are well-motivated and enthusiastic to do their best.”
