A pensioner has died after a two-car crash on the A82.
Three fire appliances and a heavy rescue unit, along with the police and ambulance,were sent to a crash at Lochend on the Inverness to Fort William road shortly before 12.50pm this afternoon.
Firefighters had to cut free a woman from her car and three people other were also taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.
Police have now confirmed a woman, 79, has died and her next of kin have been informed.
The woman was driving a burgundy Ford Focus and the three other people were in a Land Rover Discovery. They were not injured.
A police spokesman said: “The road remains closed between Drumnadrochit and Dochgarroch and is unlikely to open again until early evening – a further release will be issued when the road is fully open
“Diversions are in place via Drumnadrochit (A833/A862 towards Beauly) and via the A9/A86 for HGVs.”
