A sexual predator who carried out a campaign of rape and violence against women across Scotland has been given a life sentence.
Patrick Chinskie committed a series of brutal offences against women over a period of 23 years.
The 47-year-old raped five women throughout Scotland, including in Inverness, Nairn and Aviemore, between 1990 and 2013.
At the High Court in Edinburgh, an Order for Lifelong Restriction was imposed on Chinskie, who middle name is Savage.
Judge Kenneth Maciver QC told Chinskie he would serve a minimum of seven years in custody.
He was also placed on the sex offenders register.
Andy Shanks, procurator fiscal, High Court for the North of Scotland, said: “The jury has convicted Patrick Chinskie of a catalogue of serious, violent and sexual offences against a number of women who suffered at his hands over a 20 year period.
“We would encourage victims of sexual crimes, whenever they were committed, to come forward and report them. They will be treated with professionalism and sensitivity by the police and our expert prosecutors and we will do all in our power to deliver justice.”
