A coastguard search and rescue helicopter was earlier today assisting in a medical evacuation from a passenger ship off the east coast of Shetland.
A coastguard spokesman confirmed a call had been received at 7.03am, with coastguard helicopter Rescue 900 mobilised to assist.
The spokesman added: “We received a call to assist the passenger vessel Norrona after a passenger was reportedly suffering from a medical condition.
“Our search and rescue helicopter from Sumburgh was sent to the vessel, where the patient was taken to the Clickimin landing site, before being transported onwards to the Gilbert Bain Hospital.”
The passenger vessel is currently on voyage from the Faroe Islands to Denmark.
The condition of the casualty is currently unknown.
