Police have closed off part of Lerwick’s Market Street after the end wall of a house undergoing renovation collapsed on Monday afternoon.
Building firm Hatal Joinery and Building had been working on the property when the gable end wall at the south of the property fell to pieces.
Local police announced at around teatime that the portion of the road between Market House and Commercial Road was closed off due to an unsafe building.
Police Scotland said that, following the building’s partial collapse, the road “will remain closed until such time as the building has been made safe. It is anticipated this may take several days.”
Fire brigade appliances and an ambulance attended the scene along with the police. None of the workmen were hurt.
