A fast food restaurant in Moray has been closed after a vehicle burst into flames in the drive-through.
The McDonald’s branch in Elgin was evacuated last night at about 11pm due to the incident.
Emergency crews stopped traffic on the nearby A96 Aberdeen to Inverness road while fire fighters tackled the blaze. The road was reopened at about midnight.
On its social media pages the store has told customers that it will remain closed until further notice. Fire also damaged parts of the building.
Police have confirmed that nobody needed medical treatment as a result of the incident.
A fire spokeswoman said: “We were called at about 11pm following reports of a vehicle on fire at McDonald’s We used two breathing apparatus, two hoses and one thermal imaging camera.
“We left at about 12.45am.”
