A man’s body has been found off the coast of a north-east town.
Police made the discovery off the coast of Portsoy at around 7am this morning.
Formal identification has yet to take place, but the family of John Loughrie, 51, who was reported missing from the Findochty area, have been informed.
Police had used specialist equipment including drone technology as part of their search efforts for Mr Loughrie in the Moray town of Findochty and the surrounding areas.
Officers were joined by coastguard teams with searches also being carried out in gardens and outhouses.
Last week, locals in the Cullen and Buckie area noticed a helicopter swoop the coastline a number of times before liaising with colleagues searching on the ground.
Officers has also managed to trace the 51-year-old’s vehicle, a grey Ford Ranger truck, on Church Street in the village.
