A rest centre has been set up at Peterhead Academy for those families evacuated from their homes as a result of the fish factory fire.
Fire crews have been battling the blaze – which started in the factory’s packaging room – at North Bay Pelagic on Kirk Square since 3pm today.
Residents of nearby Erroll Street were evacuated earlier today, and the road was closed.
Both the factory and an adjoining office building were engulfed by flames for much of the afternoon and evening, but firefighters have now contained the site.
The fire and rescue service confirmed 10 crews and several specialist units were still at the site and teams would be stationed there throughout the night.
They have urged members of the public to stay away from the site.
