Aberdeen are set to complete a loan move for Newcastle United goalkeeper Freddie Woodman.
The England under-20 World Cup winner will complete the deal after Newcastle’s game tonight against Burnley, where he is needed for cover to Karl Darlow.
Some reports have indicated Celtic are interested in bringing Woodman to Parkhead as cover for the injured Craig Gordon but it is understood the Dons are confident he will complete the move to Pittodrie.
The Dons are keen on Woodman, who played on loan for Kilmarnock last season, after Joe Lewis was ruled out for up to three months with damaged knee cartilage. He was due to undergo an operation today.
Woodman will not be available for tonight’s trip to Ross County, meaning under-20s goalkeeper David Craddock is likely to take his place on the bench again with Danny Rogers starting.
Newcastle are expected to finalise a loan move for Slovak goalkeeper Martin Dubravka today, meaning they are prepared to send Woodman out on loan to the Scottish Premiership again for more experience.
