Katherine Heigl has joked about Suits turning “actresses into princesses” and her joy at joining the cast of the drama for its eighth series.
The former Greys Anatomy star has joined the line-up of the hit US legal drama series after it was revealed leading cast member Patrick J Adams will be leaving along with Prince Harry’s future wife Meghan Markle.
She also described herself as a “creepy fan girl” of the long-running show.
Referring to a popular line from the programme, Heigl wrote on Instagram: “I JUST GOT LITT UP!!!
“For anyone who doesn’t know what that means… start binging #Suits ASAP!! I could not be more excited to be joining the cast and crew of one of my all time favorite shows!! (sic)
“I’m kinda a creepy fan girl… I hope I don’t make it weird on set… Anywhoo, it’s going to be SOOOOO MUUUCCHHH FUUUNNNN!”
She added: “Oh annndddd, this show turns actresses into princesses! Neat! So keep an eye out for my royal wedding announcement next year. Just kidding! I already married my prince @joshbkelley!
“Big big thank you to @suits_usa and everyone involved for giving me the opportunity to come play! And sorry in advance if sh#*t gets weird.”
Heigl also shared her delight at being able to work with Suits star Dule Hill again, after previously working with him on drama series Doubt.
In the accompanying picture, the 39-year-old actress holds up a mug bearing the words “You just got Litt up” in reference to Suits character Louis Litt, played by Rick Hoffman.
Heigl will play disruptive lawyer Samantha Wheeler, who arrives at Suits’ law firm Pearson Specter Litt.
Ms Markle, who will marry Prince Harry in May, is due to make her final appearance in Suits in April in the series finale of season seven.
She and Adams were original cast members of Suits, which debuted in 2011, playing couple Rachel Zane and Mike Ross.
