Miss Piggy has backed the Time’s Up campaign for gender equality saying: “I think I started something.”
The Muppet, who was honoured with the Sackler Center First Award from the Elizabeth A Sackler Centre for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum in 2015, said she is a proud feminist.
Asked how she feels about the campaign sweeping Hollywood, she told the Press Association: “I started a movement and I am very pleased with my human cohorts and colleagues out there, girl power. Yes! It’s about time.”

Asked if she backed actresses wearing black to the Golden Globes and Baftas, she said: “Here is the thing, when you’re a feminist, you can wear whatever you want.
“I prefer to wear diamonds. but people can wear whatever they want.”
Discussing gender equality in The Muppets, Kermit the Frog said he “absolutely” supported a gender balance, adding: “We are all just part of one great big family.”
However, Miss Piggy continued: “It’s a weird family. There aren’t that many women in the Muppets but I think I represent quite well.”

The pig also delivered her verdict on some of the films competing at awards ceremonies this year, saying “bored is right” about Bafta winner Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
Mentioning Christopher Nolan’s film Dunkirk, she said: “Yeah, I was done with that in the first half-hour.”
Asked by Kermit what she thought of Lady Bird starring Saoirse Ronan, she said: “Lady Bird, would have been a lot better if it was Lady Pig.”
The frog replied: “It doesn’t sound like you liked any of those movies Miss Piggy, I think I know why. Because you were not in any of those films.”
Miss Piggy replied: “I think you’re right. They all would have been better with me.”
She also threw her hat in the ring to play the first female James Bond.

She said: “James Bond should be a girl now, that makes sense, frog!
“I know karate, I am suave and sexy.
“If they can accept a woman Doctor Who…
“What would they call me? Jane Bond! I like that!”
The Muppets will visit the UK later this year for their first full-length live shows in Europe.
The Muppets Take The O2 will feature an evening performance on July 13 and a matinee and evening performance on July 14.
Tickets go on sale at 9am on February 28.
