Faith Hill and Tim McGraw headline opening night of Country to Country festival

Faith Hill and Tim McGraw playfully squabbled about their marriage, kissed and serenaded each other as they played their first joint show in the UK.

The country music superstars were the headliners on the opening night of Country To Country music festival at London’s O2 arena.

McGraw kissed Hill’s hand as they walked out on stage for the first performance of their Soul2Soul tour outside the US and later introduced her to the crowd as “my wife, Mrs McGraw”.

The couple, who have been married since 1996, also took part in a staring contest and joked that they couldn’t air their issues with each other on stage just because they were abroad.

The pair opened by performing a version of George Michael and Aretha Franklin’s duet I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me) as well as a string of tracks together including Break First and As Long As We’re Together by The Lemon Twigs.

Hill later took to the stage alone saying: “Yesterday was women’s day but in my mind every day is women’s day” and launched into solo hits including This Kiss and Breathe, as well as a cover of Piece Of My Heart by Janis Joplin.

McGraw also performed a solo set with songs including Humble and Kind, Live Like You Were Dying and Shotgun Rider.

The duo later reunited to serenade each other to McGraw’s hit It’s Your Love in front of a montage of candid family photographs, including their three children Maggie, Audrey and Gracie.

Hill donned several sequinned outfits throughout the show, including a beige top and trousers, blue and silver mini dress and a bronze gown, while McGraw opted for an all-black ensemble and a black cowboy hat.

The three day country music event continues on Saturday, when Kacey Musgraves will headline, and ends on Sunday when Little Big Town take to the stage.
