Aberdeen have signed Derby County full-back Max Lowe on loan until January.
The left-back becomes manager Derek McInnes’ eight signing of the summer and will provide more competition at the back for the Dons.
Lowe is a former England under-20 international who had fallen down the pecking order with the Rams under Frank Lampard. Scott Malone arrived from Huddersfield and Scottish defender Craig Forsyth started the last two games ahead of Lowe.
The Pride Park heirarchy view first-team football as vital to Lowe’s long-term development and he will be given the next four months to gain valuable game-time at Pittodrie.
McInnes said: “We’re delighted to get Max and we thank Derby for trusting us with him.
“He had a few options but he’s one we looked at earlier in the transfer window as an option for us and now we’ve got him we’re really looking forward to working with him.
“He can play in a variety of positions for us which is always key when you’re running with a tight squad, but we feel he’ll be a very good addition and hopefully he can have a successful loan period with us, as others have.”
The 21-year-old signed a new three-year contract with Derby prior to his move and will wear number 29 during his time in the Granite City.
The Dons have also been linked with ex-Dundee United midfielder Ryan Gauld, on loan from Sporting Club de Portugal. Gauld spent last season on loan at Aves and still has two years left on his contract at Sporting.
