The ceremony celebrating the best of British theatre will be held at the Royal Albert Hall tonight. Praised as King Lear, Sir Ian will compete in the best actor category against Poirot star David Suchet, who performed in The Price. Anderson has been given the nod for her performance in All About Eve, and Sam Mendes is among the nominees for best director. Two-part epic The Inheritance is a contender for best new play. Sir Matthew Bourne will be presented with a special award by the Duchess Of Cornwall for his achievements in dance. The ceremony will air on ITV between 10.20pm and 12.10am.
