Maya Jama is to join BBC Radio 1 to host the station’s Greatest Hits show.
The presenter, 23, will front the weekly show on Saturdays from 10am to 1pm and will also co-host with Scott Mills and Chris Stark on Friday afternoons.
Jama, who started her career at MTVbase in 2014 and is the girlfriend of grime star Stormzy, said: “I’m so happy to be presenting alongside Scott Mills on Fridays.
“I’m sure I can learn a thing or two from him and beyond excited to have my own show on Radio 1 every Saturday, I cannot wait to start!”
Matt Edmondson will become the new host of the weekend show from 1pm to 4pm and on Saturdays he will be joined by a monthly celebrity co-host including Scarlett Moffatt and Mollie King.
He said: “I am ridiculously excited about inviting some big name co-presenters to join me on Radio 1 every Saturday.
“I can’t wait to work with Mollie and Scarlett, not to mention the ‘reveal-them-and-you’ll-be-immediately-fired’ list of amazing names we have lined up for the rest of 2018.”
Former I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here winner Moffatt expressed her excitement, saying: “I’ve always loved listening to Matt on Radio 1 so to present alongside him is going to be so much fun.”
Former Strictly Come dancing contestant King said: “I’m so excited to be co-hosting BBC Radio 1’s brand new Saturday show with Matt Edmondson.
“He always has me in stitches; we’re going to have a blast, bring it on!”
On the new BBC Radio 1 schedule Dev and Alice Levine will officially join forces to co-host Radio 1’s Weekend Breakfast show from March 17.
Jordan North will host Radio 1’s Greatest Hits on Sundays from 10am to 1pm.
The DJ, who has hosted shows on the likes of Rock FM, The Hits and Capital Manchester, said: “What a great start to my 2018 – I’m absolutely made up!
“It’s no secret that this has been a childhood ambition of mine, so to get my own show on Radio 1 and officially be part of the family is just amazing.
“To be honest, it’s not properly sunk in, but I can’t wait to be back on air and start presenting Radio 1’s Greatest Hits.”
Ben Cooper, controller of Radio 1, praised the new line-up saying: “It’s brilliant to welcome the next generation of superstars to Radio 1.
“Along with Maya, Jordan, Dev and Alice all starting new shows, Matt will co-present with the likes of Scarlett and Mollie, giving an exciting jeopardy to live radio at the weekend.”
Radio 1’s new weekend schedule begins on February 24.
