Ryan Reynolds has said he has continued the “long and in no way disastrous marriage of showbiz and alcohol” by buying a gin company.
The Deadpool star has bought Aviation Gin, following in the footsteps of stars such as George Clooney, Jay-Z, David Beckham and Channing Tatum, who have all been owners of alcohol companies.
Last year Clooney sold Casamigos, the tequila company he founded with Cindy Crawford’s husband Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman, to UK drinks firm Diageo for a reported 1 billion US Dollars
Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, owns a stake in Armand de Brignac Champagne, while Beckham created single grain Scotch whisky Haig Club with music mogul Simon Fuller, and Tatum launched Born And Bred vodka last year.
Drake, Connor McGregor, The Pogues, Adam Levine and Van Halen’s Sammy Hagar are also among the stars to enter the liquor business.
Reynolds wrote on Twitter: “In the long and in no way disastrous marriage of showbiz and alcohol, so happy to announce I’m the proud owner of a gin company… @AviationGin.”
The company added: “We’re excited to announce our new boss, @vancityreynolds. Actor, producer, professional good-looking person.”
A quote from Reynolds on the company website says: “I’ve tried every gin on the planet and Aviation is, hands down, the best.
“Also, I don’t recommend trying every gin on the planet. Stick with this one.”
