Mudbound also left the ceremony without any prizes, despite Mary J Blige making history with her nominations for best supporting actress and best original song.
The film’s cinematographer. Rachel Morrison, who was the first woman to receive a nod in the category, lost out to Roger Deakins.
It was an equally bad night for The Post, which failed to win either of the categories it was nominated for – best picture and best actress for Meryl Streep.
There was also disappointment for Christopher Nolan, who also lost out in the best director category, after he picked up his first nod for Dunkirk.
The film won three of the eight prizes it was nominated for – best film editing, best sound mixing and best sound editing.
