Viola Davis plans a heist with Michelle Rodriguez, Cynthia Erivo and Elizabeth Debicki in the new trailer for Widows.
The film, which is British director Steve McQueen’s follow-up to his Oscar-winning movie 12 Years A Slave, will open the BFI London Film Festival later this year.
The new footage shows Davis being menaced by criminals played by Brian Tyree Henry and Daniel Kaluuya after the death of her thief husband, played by Liam Neeson.
The trailer shows Davis and Neeson before he is killed during a robbery, alongside his whole crew.
It leads to Davis’s character recruiting the other women to attempt the heist planned by Neeson before his death.
The clip shows them buying guns and attempting target practice as well as taking care of their children, while they fear for their lives as they are threatened by the men their husbands robbed.
Davis tells the other women: “No-one thinks we have the balls to pull this off.”
Co-written by Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn, Widows also stars Jacki Weaver, Robert Duvall and Colin Farrell.
Widows is released in UK cinemas on November 6.
It will premiere at the BFI London Film Festival on October 10.
