The Duke of Sussex’s ex-girlfriend Cressida Bonas is engaged to be married.
Her fiance Harry Wentworth-Stanley posted the news on Instagram, sharing a photo of himself and the actress together, with the caption “We getting married”.
Pictured with her arm around her husband-to-be, Cressida was sporting a large striking gold and ruby red engagement ring.
Cressida was Harry’s last serious relationship before he began dating Meghan Markle, now the Duchess of Sussex, in 2016.
The pair, who were together for two years, were widely tipped to walk down the aisle.
But Cressida is said to have wanted to focus on her career and disliked the attention she faced while dating a royal.
Harry and Cressida became an item in May 2012 after being introduced by his cousin and her close friend, Princess Eugenie.
Described in the press as a “blue-blooded butterfly”, Cressida is the daughter of renowned Old Harrovian businessman Jeffrey Bonas and Sixties It girl Lady Mary-Gaye Curzon.
Rumours that free-spirited actress and dancer Cressida was “the one” for Harry gathered pace in March 2014 when she joined the prince at one of his official engagements for the first time.
She watched as Harry gave a speech at the WE Day UK charity event and they also sat together and embraced in the stands at Wembley Arena.
But they split up in April 2014, saying they remained “the best of friends”.
Cressida was invited to Harry and Meghan’s wedding in Windsor Castle last year.
Surveyor Mr Wentworth-Stanley, who works as an estate agent, is the son of the Marchioness of Milford-Haven.
He rowed across the Atlantic with three friends in 2016, raising £600,000 to help build the UK’s first centre outside of a clinic or hospital designed to help suicidal men by giving counselling and therapy.
His brother James Wentworth-Stanley took his own life at the age of 21 when he was a student in Newcastle in 2006.
James’ Place in Liverpool was officially opened by the Duke of Cambridge last year.
Harry is odds-on to attend the wedding, according to bookmakers Ladbrokes, who are setting the likelihood at 5/6.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Prince Harry and Cressida have remained good friends since their break-up and we reckon the royal will make an appearance at his ex’s big day, whenever that may be.”
