Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has said Kevin Hart is “doing very well” after he suffered back injuries in a car crash.
Comedian and actor Hart, 40, was taken to hospital after a vintage muscle car he was a passenger in rolled down an embankment in the hills above Malibu, California.
Johnson and Hart are close friends, having starred together in films including Jumanji and Central Intelligence.
Speaking on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Johnson provided an update on Hart’s condition – while poking fun at his height.
He said: “Everything is good, I spoke with Kevin, I actually refer to him as my son. I connected with him today.
“And you know what? These things happen in life and thankfully he was strapped in nicely to his car seat.”
Taking a more serious tone, former professional wrestler Johnson, 47, added Hart was “doing very well”.
“I love the guy, he’s one of my best friends,” Johnson said. “And honestly, I mean, thank God, it could’ve been a lot worse. So, he’s a lucky man, and he knows it too. I wish him the best and a speedy recovery and I’m gonna see him soon.”
Hart is reported to have suffered “major back injuries” in the September 1 incident.
Hart and the car’s driver were both taken to hospital. The driver of the car was not under the influence of alcohol, according to a California Highway Patrol collision report.
