Liam Payne has confirmed that he will finally release his hotly-anticipated debut solo album in September.
The singer also appeared to hint that he is keen for a reunion with his One Direction co-stars, suggesting that they each need to score solo success before reforming.
Payne, 24, told US TV programme Good Morning America: “(My album) is out on September 14, I can tell you that much.
“And I’m really happy with it, it’s come out really nice.”
Payne, who rose to fame with the X Factor-created boyband in 2010, added: “I miss being with the boys, that was so much fun.
“I’m sure there’s time for that to come back around. The more success we have on our own, the more success we’ll have in the future.
“We’re like the Avengers — if you want Spider-Man to sort something out, he sorts it out. But then the Hulk will go, ‘Well I’ll sort this out.’ It’s one of those things.”
Payne has so far released a handful of singles as a solo artist, including Strip That Down featuring Quavo – released in May last year – and For You with Rita Ora.
His One Direction bandmates Harry Styles and Niall Horan have already released solo albums, with Styles hitting the number one spot last year, while Louis Tomlinson is also set to release his own album.
The band went on hiatus in 2016.
