Nicki Minaj has alleged she was “bullied” into staying quiet after annoying the Grammys producer who Ariana Grande accused of lying about her.
Minaj, 36, is one of the most successful rappers of her generation, selling millions of records worldwide and earning 10 Grammy nominations, though is yet to win one.
At the 61st Grammy Awards on Sunday, she failed to earn a single nomination despite releasing her album Queen last year.
On Monday, she was asked by a fan on Twitter why she had been unsuccessful at music’s largest awards show, and replied saying she “pissed off the same man” as Grande.
She wrote: “Grammy producer KEN. I was bullied into staying quiet for 7 years out of fear.”
It appears she is referring to Ken Ehrlich, who produces the Grammys.
Minaj promised to reveal more on the next episode of her Queen Radio show, before congratulating Sunday’s Grammy winners.
The Academy has been contacted for comment.
Grande also publicly slammed Ehrlich after he said she would not perform at the Grammys because she did not have time to organise anything.
Grande responded on Twitter and said: “i’ve kept my mouth shut but now you’re lying about me. i can pull together a performance over night and you know that, Ken.
“It was when my creativity & self expression was stifled by you, that i decided not to attend. i hope the show is exactly what you want it to be and more.”
Earlier on Monday, Minaj announced she was cancelling a concert performance after the television network organising it mocked her on Twitter.
The rapper was due to perform at the BET Experience Concert in June.
However, she has cancelled after the network’s Twitter account shared a story about Minaj’s rival Cardi B winning best rap album at the Grammys, adding that Minaj was “being dragged by the lacefront”.
BET has since apologised for the tweet and said it is investigating. The offending tweet has been deleted.
