Greg James was dubbed a “dirty little no-show” as he missed his Radio 1 Breakfast Show after attending the Brit Awards.
The DJ was replaced by Adele Roberts, who remained on the air after presenting her 4am show, as well as Jordan North and Matt Edmondson.
Introducing the show just after 6.30am, Roberts said: “Good morning everybody, it’s Radio 1 Breakfast with Adele Roberts.
“I can’t actually believe this is happening!”
She added: “You know, somebody actually tweeted my show and said, ‘Do you fancy doing an impromptu breakfast show?’ And I jokingly said yes.
“Well, here we are everyone. Who’s laughing now? Not me.
“Greg James is a no-show, a dirty little no-show. Has anybody seen him, on anyone’s Instagram?”
Roberts said she saw him on a colleague’s Instagram “about midnight time”, and that she saw a “flash of him with Yannis from Foals, but I haven’t seen any more of Greg James, so if you do spot him please do send him our way.”
She joked: “I guess I’m going to learn what happens on Radio 1 Breakfast while I’m sleeping.”
Roberts later tweeted: “If you see @greg_james this morning could you please return him to: BBC Radio 1, Broadcasting House, London, W1A 1DJ? Thank you x.”
She added the hashtag #Gregxit.
James, 34, posted a picture of himself from the Brit Awards late on Tuesday evening, along with the caption: “All the best ones won. Foals, Dave (PERFORMANCE OF THE NIGHT BY A MILLION MILES), Celeste, Mabel, Billie, Capaldi, Stormzy.
“What a night. 6:30am is gonna be fun.”
After the breakfast show had ended, James’s wife Bella Mackie tweeted: “Husband didn’t come home last night.”
A spokeswoman for Radio 1 said: “The brilliant Adele Roberts, Jordan North and Matt Edmondson are presenting Radio 1 Breakfast this morning in Greg’s absence.”
