Danny Dyer’s daughter is set to star in a new reality show and said her father has warned her: “Don’t do anything silly!”
Barmaid Dani Mas Dyer has signed up for Survival Of The Fittest, a battle of the sexes in the South African savannah.
The 21-year-old will be one of a group of young singles living together in a lodge on the ITV2 show, which comes from the makers of Love Island.
She said of her EastEnders star dad: “He is excited about me being on the show.
“When I first told him, like any dad, he had his protective hat on and said, ‘Don’t do anything silly’.
“Now he is getting it and he said ‘It feels real now and I’m so proud of you’.
“He knows the person I am and he is really excited and it’s nice to have that support at home. He probably will be emotional as well.
“My mum and dad will be watching it every single night.”
Dani said her other claim to fame was being babysat by Keira Knightley when she was a child.
She said: “I was really young. My dad was filming with her ex-partner who she was with and she was on set. I must have been about seven or eight.
“She used to take me swimming. She was like a bigger sister to me and I loved her.
“It’s only when I got home that I realised she was in Bend It Like Beckham. Now look at her! I hope she remembers me.”
The programme, hosted by Laura Whitmore, will see a team of girls and a team of boys battle it out in a series of physical and mental challenges to determine which sex has the upper hand.
Dani said she believes women are stronger and she hopes to see her side take the title.
She said: “Girls should win because being a woman is such an empowering thing.
“As the years have gone on, women are appreciated more and respected more and I think it would be so good for us girls to win the show.
“If men win it’ll be typical. If we win and actually come together, it’ll be really exciting.”
Other contestants include model Tia Latham and James Middleton, the former boyfriend of I’m A Celebrity star Georgia “Toff” Toffolo.
Paul Mortimer, head of digital channels and acquisitions, said: “ITV2’s younger audience will no doubt relish the escapism this immersive physical game show from sunny South Africa will provide.
“Like Love Island before it, this series’ nightly mixture of fun challenges and burgeoning relationships ought to be must see.”
Survival Of The Fittest starts on February 11 at 9pm on ITV2.
