The craft behind TV hit Game Of Thrones is being honoured with a special award.
The show’s production team will receive the Bafta special award at the British Academy Television Craft Awards.
Actors John Bradley (Samwell Tarly) and Hannah Murray (Gilly) will receive the gong on behalf of the production team later this month.
Krishnendu Majumdar, chairman of Bafta’s Television Committee, said: “The craft behind what is one of the most popular dramas of our time is nothing short of incredible, from the breathtaking location shots to the intricately designed costumes and set pieces, and not forgetting the level of detail from the make-up and prosthetics team to name a few.”
The show’s executive producers DB Weiss and David Benioff said: “Many, many people work insanely hard to create any film or television show. They are creators every bit as much as actors, writers, producers or directors, and deserve to be recognised as such.”
The HBO show, based on the bestselling fantasy books by George RR Martin, is filmed across locations in Northern Ireland and returns for an eighth and final series next year.
Game Of Thrones is also nominated for costume design and production design at the British Academy Television Craft Awards.
Hosted by Stephen Mangan, the ceremony takes place on April 22 in London.
