Kelly Brook has defended her decision to photoshop photographs of herself.
The model and TV star sparked controversy when she shared altered pictures of herself at Royal Ascot with boyfriend Jeremy Parisi.
She told ITV’s Loose Women: “I’m on telly, people can see what I look like so it’s not like I’m really drastically changing how I look and I have put on weight as I’ve got older and I’m embracing being a bigger size.
“I’m not on a diet, I’m not telling other people to lose weight and this is the size you want to be.
“I was just trying to make the lines of the dress look a bit nicer, I really don’t overthink it.”
Brook explained that she was wearing an expensive dress and wanted to make sure it looked its best.
She said: “I was in a car for two hours so I spent all this money on this lovely dress, spent hours getting ready and I sit in a car for two hours so when I’m having my picture taken I am thinking ‘Oh my dress is really creased and it was a little bit tight round the top part so I just thought I would smooth it out a little bit.’
“There are apps on my phone and I can just tweak it and make it look better.”
Talking about a picture of herself with Parisi, she said: “I blame Jeremy because he’s wearing pinstripes so I could have got away with it but the pinstripe went a little bit wonky.
“I got a bit carried away and I took my tummy in a little bit, I did do that.”
Asked why she felt the need to digitally alter a picture of her body, she said: “I just think because I’ve been in this industry for so many years I am always looking at pictures in a different way.
“So I like creating beautiful images and lovely pictures so even if I take a picture of my garden or if I’m on holiday and I take a picture of a beach I always put a filter or something on it to bring out the sunset, so when I look at myself I think ‘Oh that’s a nice picture but I think I can make it a bit better.”
Brook compared it to other ways to alters her appearance saying: “This isn’t real, I’ve just spent two hours in hair and make up, I didn’t wake up like this so nothing is real, so how far do you want to go?”
