Piers Morgan will come face to face with Danny Dyer in a special late-night edition of Good Morning Britain along with co-host Susanna Reid.
Renamed Good Evening Britain, the one-off special will air directly after England’s World Cup match against Belgium in the final game of the group stage.
The one-hour episode will include interviews with Dyer – who Morgan has joked will “probably punch me at some stage” – as well as Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and footballer turned pundit David Ginola.
Viewers will no doubt be hoping for a clash between Morgan and Dyer, as the EastEnders actor’s daughter Dani is currently taking part in Love Island, a programme that Morgan has shared his dislike for.
Having repeatedly told Good Morning Britain viewers that he thinks the reality dating show is full of “halfwits”, he has since appeared to do some damage control ahead of his meeting with Dyer.
On Wednesday’s episode of Good Morning Britain, he said: “The only one I know in Love Island is Danny Dyer’s daughter, who is an oasis of intelligence, beauty and charm in an ocean of dimwittery.
“That’s got nothing to do with Danny Dyer coming on the show live tomorrow night for Good Evening Britain.
“I want to denounce any comments I’ve made about them being a bunch of brain-dead zombies.”
He added: “Danny senior, if you’re watching, nothing I’ve said about the show or its inhabitants has anything to do with your daughter, who is a ray of sunshine in a sea of stupidity.”
The programme will measure “the thoughts of the nation” after England’s World Cup game, as well as other news and showbiz stories from the day.
Good Evening Britain will air on ITV at 9.15pm.
