Love Island star Adam Collard has insisted he is happy to have been dumped from the show, and that he is excited to reunite with ex-partner Zara McDermott.
Adam, who was known for his lothario streak by dating several girls in the ITV2 dating show, was dumped from the island in Thursday’s episode, along with his current partner Darylle Sargeant, and Ellie Jones and Alex Miller.
He said he was fine at losing his place in the series, and his chance to win the £50,000 cash prize, because he still has feelings for ex-contestant Zara.
Speaking after his exit from Love Island, Adam said: “I am excited to see what’s to come.
“I’m obviously gutted to leave some of my friends because I do really think that I’ve made some good friends for life but I’m looking forward to seeing what is to come.
“And I’m looking forward to seeing Zara and my family and friends.”
Following Zara’s shock exit, Adam appeared to have happily moved on with newcomer Darylle, but in recent days he had confessed to still feeling strongly for his ex.
He said he “definitely” has plans to pursue Zara now he has left the villa.
“Zara said something along the lines of ‘I’ll be waiting outside, I’ll be waiting with 10,000 or 20,000 kisses’,” he said.
“I do really, really want to see her, I’m excited for that.”
Adam said he would not return to Love Island if he had the chance, because he just wants to see Zara.
“That is my priority now. I was ready to come out, especially when I knew I had feelings for Zara,” the 22-year-old personal trainer added.
Adam has also apologised for causing offence with his previous actions towards his former Love Island partner Rosie Williams, who has since left the series.
Viewers were horrified when he smirked as Rosie cried as she told him he had hurt her by moving on with Zara, and a leading domestic abuse charity commented that his actions were concerning.
Adam, who had also been romantically involved with former contestant Kendall Rae-Knight before Rosie, Zara and Darylle, said: “It was never my intention to upset Rosie.
“I think everybody saw me try to make amends and I did apologise to her in the villa.
“When everybody saw me with Zara, then they realised that I didn’t do it light-heartedly. It was because I actually had genuine feelings for Zara.
“I am sorry if I upset or offended anyone.”
Love Island continues on ITV2.
