Queer Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness is to release a memoir.
The podcast and TV presenter, known for his flamboyant personality as part of the Fab Five on Netflix’s makeover show, will release Over The Top later this year.
Publisher HarperOne said the book will look at openly gay Van Ness’s early years growing up in the US state of Illinois, where he was “an easy target and endured years of judgment, ridicule and trauma”.
Van Ness said: “I left it all on the dance floor on this project & I can’t wait to share it with you.”
Editor Hilary Swanson said: “Jonathan Van Ness has made millions of people all over the world smile, embrace their uniqueness and own their individuality.
“Now it’s time for us to return the favour as he reveals his own truth. Jonathan’s journey is at times hilarious, at times harrowing – and always refreshingly honest.
“I could not be more proud to help share his incredible story and show readers how to take their own struggles and turn them into something beautiful.”
Van Ness, 31, is the grooming expert on Queer Eye, which he hosts alongside Antoni Porowski, Tan France, Bobby Berk and Karamo Brown.
As well as Queer Eye, Van Ness hosts the Getting Curious podcast and lives in New York City.
Over The Top will be released in the US on September 24. No UK date has yet been given.
