Luke Perry’s daughter has paid tribute to her mother for being a “rock” following the actor’s death.
Perry, 52, died on Monday, five days after suffering a stroke. His death sparked an outpouring of grief from fans and co-stars from TV series such as Beverly Hills 90210 and Riverdale.
Following the tributes to her father, Perry’s 18-year-old daughter, Sophie, thanked her mother, Minnie Sharp, for being the “rock for everybody grieving in this family right now”.
Alongside a picture of the pair together, Sophie wrote: “You all know my dad is a super star, but I just want to share for a moment that I got really f****** lucky in the parental department because this is my mom. Minnie.
“Who also happens to be my best friend. Wow, how cliche, I know. And she is the rock for everybody grieving in this family right now.
“She’s the toughest and sweetest and most amazing woman I or anyone else has ever met. How did I get so lucky to have two icons for parents?”
Perry married Sharp in Los Angeles in 1993, with Perry’s 90210 co-stars among the guests at the ceremony.
As well as Sophie, the couple also had a son, 21-year-old Jack. They divorced in 2003.
Sophie added: “I love you mom and I could not get through this absolute shit situation without you. None of us could. Oh. And I was just informed it was national women’s day, how fitting for a post on my kick ass mama. #happynationalwomensday.”
Perry suffered a stroke at his home in Sherman Oaks, California, on February 27.
He died in hospital on March 4, surrounded by his family, his publicist said.
