Coronation Street star Kym Marsh has become a grandmother at the age of 42 after helping to deliver her daughter’s “beautiful” son on Friday night.
The soap star and former Hear’Say singer described her daughter Emilie as “an absolute warrior” in a post to social media.
Marsh, who wants to be known as Loli to her grandson, was her daughter’s birthing partner alongside the 22-year-old’s boyfriend.
The actress, who plays Michelle Connor in the ITV soap, has previously said she does not want to be called Granny.
Marsh shared an image to Instagram of the child’s tiny hand resting on her own. She said they were calling him Baby Hoz until a name was agreed on.
“Last night was a night I will never forget,” she said.
“I became a ‘Loli’ for the first time!!! My beautiful daughter was an absolute warrior and her partner and I were the best birthing team we could be!!!
“I was so honoured to have been a part of bringing him into the world. My beautiful grandson, I love you I will always love you and I promise to help guide you through life as best I can.
“Welcome to the world ‘Baby Hoz’ #name to follow.”
In a social media post from earlier on Saturday, Emilie welcomed her “precious baby boy” into the world.
She said: “You have filled a space in my heart that I never even knew was there, and you’ve managed to take over the hole of it. I’ve never felt a love like it. My life is complete, thanks to you.”
Marsh, who became a first-time mother aged 18, has told how listening to her unborn grandson’s heartbeat at a scan gave her comfort on the 10th anniversary of the death of her son.
Her baby boy Archie died when he was born 18 weeks early in February 2009.
Apart from Emilie, Marsh has a son named David and a seven-year-old daughter named Polly.
