Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor has been announced as the first celebrity skater taking part in Dancing On Ice 2022.
The 58-year-old actress is known to viewers as the ambitious Sally Webster in the long-running ITV soap, a part she has played since 1986.
Dynevor appeared on Lorraine to announce the news, saying: “This is a massive challenge. It really, really is.
“I’m not getting any younger. I’ve just got to take every opportunity I get so that when I’m old I can say ‘You know what? I gave it a go’.”
She added: “Now everyone knows I’m doing it I can’t back out, can I? And I’m so scared.”
Off screen, Dynevor is married to Emmerdale scriptwriter Tim Dynevor and has been followed into acting by her daughter Phoebe, 26, who is the star of Netflix series Bridgerton.
The couple are also parents to another daughter, Harriet, and a son, Samuel.
Dancing On Ice will return to ITV in the new year with 12 celebrities taking to the rink to impress the viewing public and judging panel.
However, John Barrowman, who joined the judging panel in 2019, will not be returning.
He previously appeared on the show as a contestant in 2006 and was the fourth person to be eliminated.
Barrowman will still appear on forthcoming special episodes of ITV show All Star Musicals.
A spokeswoman for ITV said: “We thank John Barrowman for two brilliant years on the Dancing On Ice panel and are pleased to be working with him again as host of the forthcoming All Star Musicals specials.”
Earlier this year, Barrowman admitted exposing himself to colleagues.
The actor said he had taken part in “tomfoolery” on the sets of BBC shows Doctor Who and Torchwood.
