North-east builder Bancon Group said yesterday new contracts worth more than £20million had boosted its construction division.
Banchory-based Bancon said the work was in both the private and public sectors, and included jobs for Aberdeen City Council, Gama Aviation and First Construction.
Announcing deals totalling £20.5million, the company said the projects reflected confidence in the local market, as well as its ability to deliver diverse and prestigious projects.
Managing director Gavin Currie added they also helped to keep the group “on-track to meeting our growth plans for the next five years”.
Bancon Construction will build 80 affordable homes at Manor Walk for the city council. Starting later this year, the project is due for completion in 2018.
Work has already started on the construction of a new hangar and reception centre for Gama Aviation at Aberdeen International Airport, while the development of a new Miller and Carter Steakhouse restaurant in the former E&M’s building on Aberdeen’s Union Street will soon get underway on behalf of First Construction.
In other Aberdeen projects, building work for a new car showroom started recently.
Bancon Construction, based at Burnett House, Banchory, provides construction services from maintenance and specialist works through to major multimillion pound projects.
Its clients include healthcare, leisure and hotel, education, retail, commercial, industrial and residential property organisations, as well as central and local government.
Bancon Group’s last set of published accounts showed turnover rising by £5million to £83.5million in the year to November 30, 2014.
But pre-tax profits slumped to £1.1million, from £3.1million previously, which the company said was largely the fault of planning delays.
