Award winning fish and chip shop The Bay in Stonehaven will help to feed The Army after its latest contract wins.
New partnerships agreed with ESS Support Services Worldwide, part of catering giant Compass Group, will see it send its fish batter mix to restaurants and military messes across the whole of the UK defence sector and government services.
Several thousands employees and high-ranking officials are expected to tuck into seafood covered in the batter on weekly Fish Fridays.
The new contracts, worth “a six figure sum”, have been won off the back of a one-year deal, along with north-east skipper Jimmy Buchan, to feed ESS offshore workers in the North Sea.
Calum Richardson, owner of The Bay, said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be in a growing partnership with Compass Group for the distribution of our bespoke batter.
“The new contracts come at an amazing point for the business as we’ve just celebrated our 10th birthday.”
In 2013, The Bay was named overall UK winner of the National Fish and Chip Awards. It is also rated as one of the most highly achieving restaurants in the UK by the Sustainable Restaurant Association, achieving three-star “champion” status.
