A chartered accountant with a string of big companies on his cv has joined Baxters Food Group.
Documents lodged at Companies House confirm the appointment of Mike McGill, who has previously headed up the finance operations of firms including Lomond Capital. Murray Group, Malcolm Group and Macdonald Hotels and Resorts.
Mr McGill, 48, went to Firhill High School in Edinburgh before studying law at Aberdeen University. He started his accountancy training in 1991.
Fochabers, based Baxters, the iconic firm behind a range of soups, jams and other food products, did not respond to a request for further information about its latest appointment.
Heather Metcalfe was the £300million-a-year turnover company’s chief financial officer until June this year, having worked for the firm for 13 years. Her social media profile says she is “actively seeking a new position”.
It is not known, however, if this is the role Mr McGill has been recruited for.
As many as 80 employees in Fochabers faced the prospect of losing their jobs at Baxters earlier this year.
Chief executive and chairman Audrey Baxter said the company needed to become more efficient in order to respond to global competition.
