An Aberdeen facility which offers care for the elderly has just completed a £2million extension which is expected to create 20 new jobs.
Construction has just finished at the city’s Rubislaw Park Care Home where strong demand for spaces led to the decision to build 16 additional rooms plus associated dining, social and recreational areas for residents.
The news follows the home being awarded its first ever grade six marks by regulatory body, the Care Inspectorate. During a recent inspection the facility received the highest possible grade in the areas of quality of care and support, and quality of management.
The home has already been the focus of a multimillion-pound investment programme since its acquisition by family- run business Rubislaw Care.
To date, work has involved the rejuvenation of rooms and lounges and the creation of a new restaurant/dining room, a bar, a celebration room for private functions, a spa salon and library.
The home – which is set in large, secure and accessible gardens – is also now able to offer long-term nursing care as well as the residential care which was previously available, and care for residents with dementia.
Rubislaw Park Care Home director Manpreet Johal said: “Our focus remains on raising standards within the care sector, and this new project further underlines that ongoing commitment.
