Businesses from the north and north-east were named cream of the crop last night at a national awards ceremony in Edinburgh.
Eight of the winners came from Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire or the Highlands at the Scotland Food and Drink Excellence Awards. The ceremony had more than 740 guests in attendance at the International Conference Centre.
Special recognition was awarded for Product of the Year which went to Isle of Harris Gin; Business of the Year, awarded to Border Biscuits; and Outstanding Contribution which was won by Jim McLaren, Quality Meat Scotland.
The 12 product-focused categories were judged in a thorough process, which included the scrutiny of packaging, quality of product and taste.
Local winners included Calum Richardson of Bay Fish and Chips who took home Food Pioneer of the Year; Joseph Robertson who won Investing in Skills; and Quality Pork who took home Success Through Partnership. Six Degrees North, Coco Ooze Chocolates and Hungry Squirrel were also named winners in their categories.
