Aberdeen is staging an event to assist oil and gas workers whose jobs have been put at risk.
The employment and support meeting takes place at RGU’s Garthdee Campus on Wednesday, June 22, to lend support and advice to workers who have either lost their jobs or are currently facing the prospect of redundancy.
This is the fourth event of its kind to be organised by the Scottish Government’s Partnership Action for Continuing Employment scheme.
The three previous meetings drew more than 2200 participants and Skills Development Scotland expects a similar figure this time.
Calum McLean, PACE manager at SDS, said: “The events we held last year attracted a wide range of people from across the oil and gas sector, and included both people who were out of work and others who were still in employment, but were keen to consider their options.
“The feedback we received from each of these events was that the support and advice available was greatly valued, and so we would encourage anyone affected by the downturn in the oil and gas sector to attend.”
The event will take place from 10am until 3pm and offers participants the chance to discuss learning and training opportunities from North East Scotland College, as well as a broad range of advice on job hunting and interviews.
Over 40 exhibitors will be involved on Wednesday, including GSK, Kier Construction Scotland and FDM Group, offering information on job opportunities.
Mr McLean added: “As well as advice at the event, support is available at all times across SDS’s network of local centres. I would encourage anyone in need of help to make use of the support that’s available.”
