Fraserburgh young farmer lifts champion title at Huntly 25th anniversary sale

A well-known young farmer from Fraserburgh lifted the champion rosette at the 25th anniversary show and sale of store cattle at Huntly.
William Moir of Home Farm, Cairness, Fraserburgh took the top accolade with a 14-month-old Limousin cross heifer called Smoochy. She was shown throughout the summer and was bought as a four-month-old calf from Wilson Peters at Monzie, Crieff.
Smoochy weighed 585kg and was sold to Messrs Wareham in Sussex for £2,000. She is destined for more trips around the show circuit.
Ryan Shand of Lythbrae Croft, Aberchirder, Huntly took reserve with a home-bred 11-month-old Limousin cross bullock. It was Ryan’s first home-bred calf and was sold to the judge – George Cowie of Cairnton Farm, Fordyce, Banff- for £1,100.
The sale was sponsored by livestock haulier Iain MacEachen.
