A two-year-old Aberdeen-Angus bull has sold for a five-figure sum in a private deal between two Aberdeenshire breeders.
April-2014 born Deveron Leggat from Hamish and Margaret Sclater’s Deveron herd at Turriff, has sold to Neil and Mark Wattie’s Tonley herd in Alford.
A successful show bull, Leggat is by Deveron Master Banbury and out of Deveron Lady L339.
He is a three-quarter brother to Deveron Lookout, which sold as an 11-month-old calf for £15,000 to the Ballindalloch herd at Ballindhalloch Home Farms, Banffshire.
Leggat had been destined for Stirling in February this year but suffered an infection prior to the sale. He has now been passed fit by the vet and has been working in the Deveron herd. The Sclaters have drawn more than 200 straws of semen from him, which are now for sale.
Neil Wattie said: “We’ve admired this bull since he first came out on the show circuit as a calf and were disappointed not to see him make the February bull sales. He’s a well grown bull with fantastic breed character, stretch, natural fleshing ability, coupled with a great set of legs. He’ll no doubt make a great addition to the Tonley herd.”
