Scottish rural charity RSABI is hosting a gala dinner in January to round off a year of fundraising activities.
The charity, which provides financial assistance to those who have relied on the land in Scotland, will host the dinner in conjunction with the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) at the bank’s offices in Gogarburn, Edinburgh, on Friday, January 27, 2017.
RSABI said the dinner was being held to mark fundraising efforts to raise £150,000 over the past 12 months.
These have included the charity’s Great Glen Challenge, a 24-hour ploughaton, golf and clay shoot events and an epic tractor journey around the north coast of Scotland.
The gala dinner will feature a charity auction and celebrity speakers including farming comedian Jim Smith.
RBS director, Brian Murphy, said: “The agriculture sector and rural community is an important sector for Scotland’s business, as well as cultural life. It has experienced challenging times recently, which brings into sharp focus the importance the RSABI plays.
“It has been heartening to see the generosity and kind-heartedness people have shown in helping raise funds to support the great work the charity carries out. We hope this latest event, which culminates at Gogarburn, raises even more money and helps make a positive difference to so many more lives.”
RSABI development officer, Paul Tinson, paid tribute to RBS for supporting the gala dinner and said the charity was on track to exceeed its fundraising target of £150,000.
A limited number of spaces are available to attend the dinner in January. Anyone wishing to attend or to offer auction prizes is asked to contact RSABI on 0131 472 4166.
Last month the charity opened its winter heating fund, which sets out to help address fuel poverty.
The Help for Heating Fund provides fixed grants of £300 to successful applicants.
