North-east Texel breeders were out in force at the breed’s Christmas Stars sale in Carlisle.
Farmers from the region were both selling and bidding at Harrison and Hetherington’s Borderway Mart.
Two days of sales topped at a bid of 15,000gn for an entry from Boden and Davies’ Sportsmans and Mellorvale flocks at Stockport, Cheshire.
The gimmer, which stood second at the Royal Welsh Show earlier this year, is by the 145,000gn Knap Vicious Sid. She sold in-lamb to the 52,000gn Clinterty Yogi Bear. The buyer was Jim Innes for his Strathbogie flock at Dunscroft, Huntly.
Mr Innes was selling stock himself and sold to a top of 12,000gn for a home-bred gimmer by Aman Vyrnwy and out of a ewe by the 40,000gn Glenside Razzle Dazzle.
In-lamb to Strathbogie Yes Sir, by Millar’s Windbrook, she sold to fellow north-east breeder Kenny Pratt for his Hilltop flock at Oldtown Farm, Peterculter.
Perthshire breeder Robert Cockburn, who runs the Knap flock at Errol, also sold to a top of 12,000gn.
His sale topper was a gimmer by Tamnamoney Tuborg and out of a dam by Baltier Rascal. In-lamb to the 60,000gn Clinterty Yuga Khan, she sold to K. A. and R. Campbell, Drimsynie Estates, Lochgoilhead.
Meanwhile, the Milnbank flock, which is run by Robbie Wilson at North Dorlaithers Farm, Turriff, sold to 10,000gn.
Leading the flock entry was a daughter of the 42,000gn Glenside Valhalla, out of a dam by Teiglum Tornado. In-lamb to the £60,000 Strathbogie Yes Sir, she sold to W.K. Duthie, Woodside of Chapelton, by Brechin.
The Campbell family’s Cowal flock sold to a top of 7,000gn for a Knap Vicious Sid daughter out of a dam by Tullylagan Tonka. She sold, in-lamb to the 42,000gn Strathbogie Your Tupped, to Graham Morrison’s Deveronvale flock at Inchbruich Farm, Cornhill, Banff.
The entry from Deveronvale topped at 3,500gn for a Deveronvale Undertone daughter out of a ewe by Glenside Razzle Dazzle. In-lamb to Strathbogie Yes Sir, she sold to E. Pugh, Glan Llyn Farm, Gwynedd, Wales.
Fraserburgh farmer Brian Buchan, who runs the Clinterty flock at New Aberdour, sold to 2,500gn for a Deveronvale Union Jack daughter out of a dam by Clinterty Par One. She sold to B.F. Farrell, Oberstown, Tara, Co. Meath, Ireland.
Memsie farmer Sandy Lee’s entry from his Fordafourie flock sold to 1,200gn for a Garngour Vintage daughter out of a ewe by Foradfourie Pure Gold. In-lamb to Stainton You Bet, she sold to A. Okeefe, Annakisha House, Mallow, Co. Cork, Ireland.
Lastly, Kenny Pratt’s Hilltop flock topped at 1,100gn for a Sportsman Supreme daughter out of a dam by Knock Macallan. She sold in-lamb to Allanfauld Yahoo to A.E. Jones, Ynys Toddeb, Dyfed, Wales.

A family of Texel breeders from the north-east were also out at the Twilight Texel sale at Carlisle.
The Knox family, of Mid Haddo, Fyvie, Turriff, sold to a top of 1,500gn.
Leading the charge for the family’s Haddo flock was a February-2015 born gimmer by Cowal Vogue and out of a dam by Glenside Razzle Dazzle. She was sold in-lamb to 60,000gn Clinterty Yuga Khan to A Moses, 12 Ballyquillan Road, Aldergrove, Crumlin, Northern Ireland.
In all the family sold five gimmers to average £819.
