North-east farmers’ co-operative ANM Group has appointed a new manager for its base in the north.
The Thainstone-headquartered company has appointed auctioneer Stuart Slesser to the role of centre manager for its Caithness Livestock Centre at Quoybrae.
Mr Slesser will replace the current centre manager, John Bremner, who will begin the process to retirement in January and reduce his working week to three days a week. He will work alongside Mr Slesser until he is fully retired in September.
ANM Group executive director John Gregor welcomed the appointment.
He said: “We are delighted with Stuart’s deserved appointment and wish him well in his new role. Stuart’s promotion is a testament to his work ethic and further demonstrates our commitment to the future of the Caithness centre.”
Mr Gregor also paid tribute to Mr Bremner who has worked at ANM for more than 46 years and spent more than 30 years at Caithness.
“During this time, he (John Bremner) has become a well-respected member of the team and fully integrated into the local agricultural community, while playing an important role in the success of the Caithness Centre,” added Mr Gregor.
“His professionalism, agricultural expertise, and hard work have served him well in making a significant contribution to the business and our members and customers. We are proud of his achievements and look forward to continuing to working together in the short-term.”
In his new role Mr Slesser will be responsible for all aspects of agricultural activity at the Caithness centre including organising shows and sales, canvassing in the region, procurement of cattle and sheep, and auctioneering.
He said: “I am delighted to be promoted to centre manager and look forward to working with our members and customers. Caithness Centre is important to the businesses of farmers in the Caithness area as we deliver a complete livestock marketing offering, including a range of special sales, to meet their needs in the county now and in the future.
