Bird flu has been found at a turkey farm in Lincolnshire, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has confirmed.
They said more than 5,000 birds had been affected at the farm, which has yet to be identified. Officials have since set up a 3km protection zone and a 10km surveillance zone around the farm.
A farm at Austen Fen, near Louth had a “Keep Out” warning sign at the entrance – at the side was a container to cleanse footwear.
A Defra spokeswoman declined to say where the infected farm is but said restriction measures, similar to those at the Austen Fen farm, were the type of measures that will be replicated on poultry farms within the protection zone set up by officials.
